Georgia takes the 19th place among the world’s wine exporting countries

Georgia takes the 19th place among the world’s top 30 wine exporting countries in 2017, says the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE), an educational organization dedicated to encouraging economic research and analyses and exchanging ideas in wine economics.

Georgia ranks first with its highest share of wine exports from total National Export value, among the world`s 80 countries. In particular, according to AAWE data, from total national export value - 6,7% was wine exports in 2017.

Moldova is next with 5.29% of wine export, followed by Montenegro - 3.73% and New Zealand with - 3.15%, and Chile with - 2.9%.

The fact that Georgia ranks first in the world in wine exports indicates a small and less diversified economy on the one hand.

As for the top wine exporting countries, Georgia occupies the 19th place.

In particular, according to AAWE, in 2017 the world's largest exporting countries were:

France

Income from wine exports - $ 10 billion

Share in total exports - 1.9%

Italy

Income from wine exports - $ 6.7 billion

Share in total exports - 1.3%

Spain

Income from Wine Exports - $ 3.2 billion

Share in total exports - 1%

Chile

Income from wine exports - $ 2 billion

Share in total exports - 2.9%

Australia

Income from wine exports - $ 2 billion

Share in total exports - 0.8%
